You can complete an Adult Matric course online if you do not have a matric certificate. The Amended Senior Certificate is a qualification that is equivalent to a National Senior Certificate which you can work towards, no matter how long you have been out of school.

What Does An Amended Senior Certificate Mean?

An Amended Senior Certificate qualification is a certificate you can get if you are 21 or older. This allows those who do not have a matric certificate to work towards having an accredited matric certificate.

Can I Do My Matric Online?

If you do your Adult Matric course through a Distance Learning Institution, you can complete your matric course online. One of the educational bodies that offer this course is the Bellview Institute of Distance Learning.

You can study online, submit assignments virtually, and make your own schedule. You will only need to write your final examinations at an assigned venue.

Bellview’s Adult Matric Accreditation

The Adult Matric – Amended Senior Certificate is on an NQF level 4. It has the following SAQA ID number: 49647. The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers has registered Bellview Institute of Distance Learning for the QCTO.

Bellview does not need to undergo a process of accreditation to offer this course as they are a registered educational institution. The Adult Matric certificate is accredited by Umalusi.

What Will I Need To Study An Adult Matric Course?

You need the following to qualify for Adult Matric:

  • An incomplete matric status (showing that you have not written matric or that you did not pass your matric)
  • A grade 9 certificate or a certificate that is equivalent to grade 9

You can start studying the Adult Matric course when you are 19, but you will not be able to write your final exams until you are 21 years old.

How Long Does It Take To Complete An Adult Matric Course?

 

You can do the Adult Matric course over a timespan of 12, 24, or 36 months. You will cover the materials of grade 10, 11 and 12 during this course, so you can choose which time frame will suit you best.

It is recommended that you complete the course in 12 to 24 months.

Are Amended Senior Certificates Accepted By Universities?

Universities do accept Amended Senior Certificates since they have the same award standard as a Standard Matric Certificate. However, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree Matric Pass and meet all of the other entry requirements of the university.

This means that having a matric certificate does not guarantee that you will be accepted into a university. Every university course has its own requirements that you will have to meet just to be able to register.
