Finding a complete guide to the ICB registration information is difficult. There are so many webpages out there and many of them only have bits of the information you want. Luckily for you, this page has everything you will need!

What Courses Can I Register For?

The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) has 16 different courses that you can register for. The ICB combined these courses into five different qualifications that are all related to a field of business. The five study fields are Business Management, Office Administration, Entrepreneurship, Public Sector Accounting, and Financial Accounting. Each of these programmes has three courses you can study but the Financial Accounting programme has four.

Business Management courses:

  • ICB National Certificate: Small Business Financial Management
  • ICB Higher Certificate: Office Administration
  • ICB National Diploma: Financial Accounting

Office Administration courses:

  • ICB National Certificate: Office Administration
  • ICB Higher Certificate: Office Administration
  • ICB Diploma: Office Administration Course

Entrepreneurship courses:

  • ICB National Certificate: Small Business Financial Management
  • ICB Higher Certificate: Office Administration
  • ICB Higher Certificate: Office Administration

Public Sector Accounting courses:

  • ICB National Certificate: Public Sector Accounting
  • ICB Diploma: Public Sector Accounting
  • ICB National Diploma: Public Sector Accounting

Financial Accounting courses:

  • ICB National Certified Junior Bookkeeper
  • ICB FET Certificate: Bookkeeping (Certified Senior Bookkeeper)
  • ICB National Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting
  • ICB National Diploma: Certified Financial Accounting

The Financial Accounting programme also gives you the option to take your studies further and earn a degree in Financial Accounting.

One of the best things about these qualifications is that they get recognised nationally and internationally. This means that you can look for a job overseas and in South Africa and your employer will recognise your qualification.

How can I Register?

You can register online through the ICB Learner Portal or through one of the ICB’s training partners. Training partners are colleges and institutions that are allowed to teach the ICB courses. Completing your ICB registration through a training partner is usually a very convenient option. This is because they will help you every step of the way and you can ask any questions you have. You will need to make sure of which fees your training provider covers, however. This is because some training providers don’t include your exam fees. You will then need to pay those fees to the ICB yourself.

The online portal allows you to register for your courses and your exams but it also lets you do much more. You can find your exam results, make payments, and more. The only problem with using the portal is that there is no one to help you when you are registering and you cannot ask questions if you don’t understand something.
